Welcome

Thank you for visiting Lee County Home Watch. I’m Wayne Schlicht, owner and founder of Lee County Home Watch.

My family and I are proud to call Cape Coral home. As a locally owned and family operated business, we understand how important it is to have someone you can trust keeping a watchful eye on your home while you’re away. Whether you’re traveling for a few weeks, spending the season up north, or away unexpectedly, our goal is to provide the peace of mind that comes from knowing a local professional is looking after your property.

After spending more than 25 years managing complex projects where attention to detail, communication, and accountability were essential, I brought those same principles to every Home Watch inspection. Every visit follows a detailed inspection process designed to identify small issues before they become costly repairs, and every inspection includes a comprehensive digital report with photos so you always know the condition of your home.

Lee County Home Watch was built on a simple philosophy: treat every home as if it were our own. We believe in honest communication, dependable service, and building long-term relationships with the homeowners who trust us with one of their most valuable investments.

Whether you’re across the country or across the world, you can have confidence knowing your home is being cared for by a local family that is invested in this community and committed to protecting yours.

Welcome to Lee County Home Watch. We look forward to earning your trust.

Why I Started Lee County Home Watch

When my family and I made Cape Coral our home, we quickly realized why so many people fall in love with Southwest Florida. Beautiful waterfront neighborhoods, sunshine year round, and a relaxed lifestyle make it the perfect place to own a seasonal or second home.

But I also recognized a challenge many homeowners face. Whether they live hundreds or thousands of miles away, they worry about what might happen while they’re gone. A small plumbing leak, an air conditioning failure, or storm damage can quickly become an expensive repair if no one discovers it for days or even weeks.

I knew I could help.

For more than 25 years, I managed complex projects where success depended on careful planning, attention to detail, thorough documentation, and clear communication. Those same skills are essential to a professional Home Watch service. Every inspection follows a detailed process because I believe protecting your home starts with never overlooking the small things.

Lee County Home Watch was founded on a simple principle: treat every home with the same care and attention I would expect someone to give my own. My goal isn’t simply to walk around a property. It’s to identify concerns early, communicate honestly, and help homeowners avoid unnecessary stress and costly surprises.

As a locally owned and family operated business, we’re invested in this community because we live here too. When you’re away, you deserve more than someone who simply checks a box. You deserve someone who genuinely cares about protecting one of your most valuable investments.

That commitment is why I started Lee County Home Watch, and it’s the standard I bring to every inspection.

My Professional Background

More Than 25 Years of Experience Where Details Matter

Long before I founded Lee County Home Watch, I built my career managing complex technology projects for Fortune 500 companies and major financial institutions. As a Project Management Professional (PMP), I spent more than 25 years leading projects where success depended on planning, organization, communication, and attention to detail.

Throughout my career, overlooking a small detail could have significant consequences. Every project required following proven processes, identifying risks early, documenting findings, and communicating clearly with stakeholders. Those same principles now guide every Home Watch inspection I perform.

My experience extends beyond the corporate world. As a homeowner and real estate investor, I’ve owned, maintained, and renovated multiple properties. One of my most rewarding projects was restoring a 125-year-old Victorian Revival home in Hudson, Wisconsin. Renovating a historic home taught me how homes function, how building systems work together, and how to recognize the warning signs of developing problems before they become major repairs.

Today, I bring both my professional project management experience and my hands-on homeownership experience to every inspection. I don’t simply walk around your property. I follow a detailed inspection process designed to identify concerns early, document my findings thoroughly, and provide you with clear, photo-rich reports so you always know the condition of your home.

As a locally owned and family operated business, my commitment is simple: treat every home with the same care, attention, and respect I expect for my own. Whether it’s a seasonal condominium, a waterfront estate, or a family residence, I believe every homeowner deserves honest communication, dependable service, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing someone is looking after their investment.
